MADAM CURIE





Madam Curie was a famous scientist who received the Nobel Prize twice. Once she was given for her discover of radium and once for her outstanding achievement in Chemistry. She is greatly respected in the world of science.



Madam Curie was born in the capital of Poland on November 7, 1867. Her name was Marie Sklodowaska. Her parents were teachers. She was a girl of sharp intellect. When she was six years old, her father died. Five years later her mother also passed away. Madam Curie passed High School at the age of sixteen. She was a very intelligent student. So she was awarded a gold medal.

In those days there was no higher education for women in Poland. So she had to look for job. At last she started her career as a teacher.                                                                        
                                                                                                  

She was greatly interested in science. Her sister assisted her in her education. She went to Paris, in 1889 for her higher education. In Paris she studied Physics. In 1895 she married Parie Curie. Her husband was a scientist too. Later on, she started to help a professor in his experiment.

                                                           
The experiment was made on the use of uranium. In course of experiment, they
discovered radium in November 1889. For this discovery, Madam Curie, her husband and he professor were jointly awarded the Noble Prize.




                                                    


Her husband died in 1906. She continued working in the field of chemistry. She was again rewarded for her achievement in chemistry in 1911. She established Curie Radium Institute in Paris in the memory of her husband. As she had
